Health Disclaimer
Better Habits is an editorial publication. Everything on this site is general information, written for a broad adult audience. It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for the judgment of a healthcare professional who knows you.
Not medical advice
The articles, pages, newsletter, and other content on betterhabits.online (the "Site") are provided for general informational and educational purposes only. The content is not intended to be, and should not be taken as, medical advice, diagnosis, or care. Reading the Site does not create a professional relationship between you and ZN Digital Ventures LLC, the publisher of the Site, or anyone who contributes to it.
Talk to a professional
Always seek the advice of a physician or other qualified healthcare professional with any question you have about a medical condition, a symptom, a medication, or a change to your diet, physical activity, sleep, or other health practices. This is especially important if you are pregnant, are managing a chronic condition, take prescription medication, or have been advised to limit or avoid certain activities or foods. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read on the Site.
Habits are general, people are not
Our articles describe everyday habits that public health research suggests may support health for many adults in midlife and beyond. Whether a particular habit is appropriate, safe, or useful for you depends on your individual health, history, and circumstances, which we cannot know. Each article includes a section on when to talk to a clinician. Please read it. A habit that is helpful for most people can be inappropriate for some, and only a professional who knows your situation can tell you which applies to you.
What our language means
We use conditional language on purpose. Phrases such as "research suggests," "may support," and "is associated with" reflect the state of the evidence, which is often observational and rarely conclusive. They are not hedges to be read past. Where research is preliminary, mixed, or limited, we try to say so. We do not claim that any habit will produce a particular result for any individual.
Emergencies
If you think you may have a medical emergency, call your doctor, go to the nearest emergency department, or call 911 (in the United States) immediately. Anyone in emotional distress or crisis in the United States can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at any time.
Sources and external links
Our articles cite public health institutions such as the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, and the Mayo Clinic, and link to their websites. Those institutions have not reviewed or endorsed our content. We are not responsible for the content of external sites, and a link does not imply that the linked institution agrees with anything we have written.
No liability for reliance
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ZN Digital Ventures LLC disclaims any liability for loss, injury, or damage arising from reliance on the content of the Site. Our Terms of Use contain the full disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability, and this Health Disclaimer forms part of those Terms.
